Coroner Says Doctors Had to Let Kerrie Wooltorton Die.
I already presented my thoughts on this article on Doomworld (A forum I regularly visit), but I thought I would share it here as well.

The world is overpopulated enough, if people want to die then let them.
As morbid as it might be, I actually agree. There is a reason that suicide rates rise in high density populations. It’s for the same reason that rats start eating their young in high population densities. It’s natural population control.
That doesn’t mean I think everyone should kill themselves, however. I think life is very precious, and no I’m not some wacko religious nut. Quite the opposite, actually. I’m about as atheist as they come.
I’m going to quote something from my friends blog that is relevant here:
Ashley Said:
[A] concept in Buddhism is the idea of “emptiness.” The world is empty of meaning except that which we give it. It’s kinda like a Rorschach test—you know, those psychology tests where you look at an ink blob and tell the therapist what you see. Well, what you see has NOTHING to do with the blob and EVERYTHING to do with you.![]()
You can’t place a price on someone’s life, whatever the currency. However something that I feel should be universally accepted is that there is a certain miraculous nature of life itself. Some time, somehow inanimate matter became self replicating and life has evolved on this planet to think, feel, and in our cases actually construct and shape our world. In the grand scheme of the universe there is no intrinsic value of life, but in the scope of each of our lives we owe a debt of gratitude to the universe for our existences.
Death is the end. There’s no afterlife, no second chances. This fact itself does lend a bit of value to life. We have but one life to live, and I feel it is our duty to live it in an impactful way, to whatever extent. We can change the whole world, or just one person’s world–but I think we owe it to the universe to try.
I don’t think anyone deserves death, but I am in no place to argue with whether someone else feels they deserve or even embrace death. It just breaks my heart that so many people treat death as some sort of cosmic “get out of jail free card.”
Suicide tends to cause more problems than it solves. However, I do think that in some cases it is an acceptable solution. Those cases are rare, and in the scope of this article I personally do not feel that inability to reproduce is one of those cases. There is much more to life than reproducing. We have the gift to see beyond our genetic predispositions, and should not take that gift for granted.

I’m going to make this quick because I’m going to bed soon, but I just had to put down my thoughts about this article in a public forum. Fox News is not generally known to be a satire news service, but most of the time I find FoxNews.com’s “Fair and Balanced” tagline to be ultimately ironic and much less accurate as The Onion’s tagline “America’s Finest News Source.” Although this sort of thing is nothing new to Faux News, I encourage whoever wrote this article to take a peek into their history books, or at the very least into a dictionary, and learn about the term “yellow journalism;” though frankly this article borders more on libel.
The whole thing kicks off with the eyecatching headline, “Police: Michigan Mom Found Long-Lost Son, Rapes Him.” It starts of with a punch, with great certainty that this evil woman has done this atrocious act, and for about 3/4 of the article proceeds to keep the pretense that she has done it. Then, finally, it reveals that she has barely just been arraigned and the trial has not even begun yet!
Way to go, Fox News! Guilty until proven innocent, right?
I’m sorry, but I was under the impression that as an American, she had the right to due process of law? Who the hell does this author think he or she is, that wants to play judge and jury? If the woman has done the unspeakable, I definitely think she should rot in prison with all the other child molesters. However nobody has the right to go throwing mud until the evidence has been weighed in a court of law.
And I have to say that was real fucking low putting a link to her Myspace page on there (which, her page has already been removed). This coming from a company that bitched and whined about Sarah Palin’s email being compromised. I wonder if the author could have made this article even more personal.
I really wouldn’t be surprised if Ms. Sword had a case in her favor to wring the necks of Fox News for libel. And if that is so, I would be behind her 100% even if she DID do it. This kind of sensationalist bullshit is why I and many others do not have any respect at all for this news company. They seem to think they can get away with constantly making shit up and misrepresenting potentially innocent people.
Faux News, if you are listening–leave the real news reporting up to the professionals and get back to fabricating stories about all the crazy rapist pedophiles that inhabit the country’s public transportation lines.

I signed up to Livestream, and made a channel that I will likely use mostly for recording gameplay. You can see it here:

There are a couple recordings that I did already. This will be a good place to show off the beta stuff for the maps I’ve been working on too!
1 Jul Posted some new stuff on the Doom Wads page! Check ‘em out and comment! 26 May Hey, if you have a problem with my personal thoughts and beliefs, you should take it up with me instead of taking your objections out on your daughter. I am a reasonable person, and we are both adults. There’s a comment box on these entries for a reason, as well as you even have my phone number if it’s that important. Defense calls no witnesses in prayer death trial – Yahoo! News. I wonder if these people genuinely believe that prayer will help someone whose organs are shutting down on them and dying. I don’t think they should be imprisoned–I think they should be committed to an institution. It’s not often that something gets me really riled up about religion (I’ve pretty much learned to not give a fuck), but this kind of reckless endangerment of their own child out of pure I’m sure some of you reading this might find that statement upsetting, but I strongly urge you to seriously sit down and consider the threat to society that these people pose. Sincerely, with all my heart I think people like those described in this article, and cruel, judgmental people like Fred Phelps and his army of misguided crusaders at the Westboro Baptist Church, and any moron that thinks that their religious beliefs should give them some authority on how others ought to live should be lobotomized. They should have their right to think revoked because they very clearly and vehemently deny that right to begin with. I honestly do not care what god anyone believes in. It makes no different to me. I grew up in a Lutheran family, I’m dating a Mormon, I’ve had numerous contacts with people of religions ranging from Buddhist to Muslim, and it all makes about as much difference to me as color or nationality (unless, of course, the person in question is Dutch). You are who you are, and you believe what you believe. However, when you turn your beliefs and use them against others; when you actively try to undermine your fellow human beings basic rights and freedom of pursuit of happiness, you do not deserve respect. None. Of course this story is a little less full of malevolence as much of the religious absurdity that I despise; it is really more about misguided idiots who do not understand the implications of prayer replacing medicine–if prayer actually worked for such things, we wouldn’t need medicine in the first place; therefore prayer does not work for such things and any positive “results” from such an incident is purely coincidence and dumb luck. On the other hand, upon further consideration, these people really are victims themselves, of deception. All I’m going to say here is to beware wolves in shepherd’s clothing. Either way, I hope the people responsible for that poor girl’s death are brought to justice. Found this site on Martin’s blag and thought it was amusing. I was browsing through it and actually found someone I know. His name is Jay Conklin and I was in a band with him. The funniest thing is that there is more truth behind this picture than appears. Jay was in the US Air Force, and got orders out to F.E. Warren out in Cheyenne. He joined a local band called Imperium not too long after he moved out there, and at some point when Travis Kolbo and I were advertising for band positions, he gave us a shout and we tried him out and he seemed OK enough. He even had a buddy, Travis Hall, who was moving out from West Virginia (where they were both from, and long time friends) to play in Imperium with him, and he ended up playing with us instead. At some point Jay had some party at his dorm on base, and there ended up being minors there along with alcohol. I don’t know the whole story, but he ended up with nude pictures of those girls on his laptop, and someone said something about it. His dorm ended up being raided by base security and his laptop confiscated, and he was courtmartialed and ended up being dishonorably discharged from the Force. All during this, we ended up kicking him out of the band because he didn’t really seem to meld that well with what we were wanting to play. He ended up getting pissed off at us for “talking shit” about him, when he only knew what his buddy Travis told him. Of course his buddy Travis left out that he was the one telling us all about him and things he had supposedly done. He told us (and I cannot verify this) that the reason that he and his wife (pictured in above entry) had split up, he had gotten pissed off at her and strapped her to a chair and started pouring salt and pepper down her throat. I have no idea if that’s a true story or not, but it certainly is a pretty good anecdote for this “Why the fuck do you have a kid?” blog. I never had the chance to meet his wife, but Jay certainly was a few genes short of a chromosome. Last I heard, he was back in West Virginia with her. No doubt working his way up the corporate ladder at McDonald’s since he’ll never get a good job with that dishonorable discharge. To Jay, if you happen to read this: I’m going to ignore any threats and LOL INTERNET TOUGH GUY nonsense you may spout at me, but if you happen to be able to provide any clarification on anything in this post, I am more than willing to append the entry. If you want it taken down, you can suck my dick. [EDIT: May 10, 2009 19:49] I was just peeking at Jay’s and his wife’s myspaces, and there is no mention of their son. I’m willing to bet that he was taken away by the state. That’s too bad. 6 May The Abyss has been given an overhall and now features fancy new articles by yours truly, as well as my buddies Juho, Connor, Kyle, and probably Reese. FUCK YEAH! 17 Apr I added the Music section of the site yesterday, and put the finishing touches on a couple of the pages. You can find some information about my old bands, as well as download the Eyes Sewn Shut demo, and a recording from Anima Morthor. Not much else to say right now.ignorance fucking stupidity is beyond the realm of criminal correction, and more psychiatric territory. In this case, among many others, Religion is a mental illness that should be dealt with in with the same urgency as any other severe dementia that causes the inflicted to harm others through malign intent or neglect.
