Managed to get a beta invite for Quake Live, which is a browser based port of id Software’s Quake III Arena, and I’ve been playing it a bit. It’s a closed beta right now, but it is supposed to be totally free anyway when it goes gold, which is really awesome on id’s part.
I’ve only played against bots so far, though. I have always been very apprehensive about playing online games with people I don’t know, which is the biggest reason that I still suck after all these years. It’s mostly a lack of self confidence in my skills, but I also don’t care to deal with all the LEET DOODS that play these games; both the guys who are really good and would rape me, and the retards that think they’re great but are worse than I. Either way, I’ve got five invites to give out right now, and will have plenty more each week, so if anyone wants to play! The Quake III engine is pretty old by now, so I don’t think the system requirements are very high. Only need a good internet connection! I’m planning on sending an invite to my friends Juho and Reece. We’ll probably rarely play, but the option to play is awesome.
